About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Principal Instrumentation Engineer to support major brownfield capital projects within a large industrial processing operation. This is a site-based role where you will provide technical leadership across the full project lifecycle, from concept and design through to construction and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define project scopes and manage scope changes through established project controls processes.
  • Prepare and review engineering deliverables including datasheets, scopes of work, specifications, calculations, drawings and technical reports.
  • Participate in project meetings, provide progress updates and ensure compliance with quality management procedures.
  • Support procurement, construction and commissioning activities, including technical evaluations and vendor engagement.
  • Monitor engineering budgets and resource allocation against approved project plans.
  • Apply risk management and safety principles across all engineering activities.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentoring and peer review support to project and discipline teams.
  • Develop strong relationships with stakeholders and collaborate to resolve technical challenges.
  • Identify engineering issues and deliver practical, fit-for-purpose solutions.
  • Maintain awareness of industry developments, standards and emerging technologies.

About You

  • Degree-qualified Engineer eligible for professional membership with a recognised engineering body.
  • Extensive instrumentation and control systems engineering experience within brownfield industrial environments.
  • Proven experience delivering multidisciplinary engineering projects.
  • Strong background in minerals processing, resources, energy, heavy industry or similar sectors.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams across multiple locations and mentor developing engineers.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Experience working closely with construction teams and managing site interfaces.
  • Hands-on field experience with brownfield installations will be highly regarded.
