Our Opportunity

Work Location: Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.

Roster: Monday to Friday

At Fortescue, we are committed to leading the world in safe, responsible operations. We are seeking a passionate HS Risk professional to play a key role in strengthening our risk culture and embedding critical risk management across the business.

In this role, you will partner with operations, projects, and corporate teams to drive meaningful improvement in how we identify, manage, and assure our material risks—leveraging data, systems, and strong engagement to deliver safer outcomes for our people.

Enjoy flexible working arrangements, complemented by occasional site travel every 2–3 months, with short visits of a few days at a time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive delivery of the HS Risk strategy, supporting uplift in material risk management and assurance
  • Partner with leaders to embed a proactive, high-performing risk culture across Fortescue
  • Strengthen and continuously improve HS risk systems, standards, and critical risk frameworks
  • Build capability through coaching, training, and facilitation of risk and bowtie workshops
  • Translate data and insights into clear actions that improve risk visibility and performance
  • Support assurance activities and audits, focusing on critical risks and controls that matter most

Qualifications and Experience

  • Tertiary qualification in Health & Safety or a related discipline
  • Demonstrated experience in managing material HS risks within complex, operational environments
  • Proven ability to embed and improve risk frameworks, systems, and practices
  • Experience supporting assurance activities and applying risk-based thinking
  • Strong ability to influence, coach, and build trusted relationships across all levels
  • Clear, confident communicator with strong facilitation skills
  • Data-driven mindset with the ability to turn insights into action
  • Experience with HS risk systems (e.g. Enablon or similar)
