Our Tier 1 Mining Client is looking for an Principal Electrical Engineer to provide technical leadership and engineering assurance for a major wind farm project.

Roster: 5/2 Perth CBD

Start date: Sept 2026

Duration: approx. 12 months - depending on client requirements

Pay Rate: $120.00 p/h + Super depending on experience

The Role:

Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, you will act as the project's principal electrical technical authority across design, procurement, construction, commissioning, energisation and handover.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical governance and final direction across the electrical scope.
• Lead engineering for HV substations, transmission and reticulation systems, protection and control, SCADA, earthing, reactive power and balance-of-plant systems.
• Review and accept critical designs, calculations, specifications, studies, vendor documentation and engineering changes.
• Lead HV, grid-connection, compliance, commissioning and energisation submissions.
• Manage interfaces between wind turbine OEMs, contractors, substations, transmission systems, SCADA and Operations.
• Resolve technical queries, field issues and non-conformances through construction and commissioning.
• Work closely with the site-based Owner's Team to translate engineering requirements into safe field execution.
• Lead and mentor the electrical engineering team.
• Manage specialist consultants, technical advisers and testing providers where required.
• Identify and resolve technical risks affecting safety, integrity, cost and schedule.

Experience Required

• A bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent recognised qualification.
• Extensive senior-level experience delivering major power-generation, transmission or renewable-energy assets.
• Deep technical experience with HV systems, substations, protection and power systems.
• Demonstrated experience managing and securing approval of HV technical submissions.
• Delivery experience across engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and energisation.
• Strong knowledge of Australian Standards, electrical-safety requirements and power-industry practices.
• Proven capability operating as a senior electrical technical authority on major projects.
