About the Company

Our Group Office in the Sydney CBD collaborates with teams across Australia and Canada to influence outcomes and meaningful work across the business.

About the Role

This is an opportunity to shape how assurance is delivered across a leading global mining company.

As Principal Assurance - Sustainability, you will lead the evolution of Evolution's sustainability assurance framework, helping ensure our standards are consistently applied and effective across our operations. You will determine where assurance effort should be focused, identify emerging risks and provide independent insight into the effectiveness of our health, safety, training and environmental management systems.

This role extends beyond conducting audits. You will own the assurance process end-to-end, from developing risk-based assurance plans and defining audit priorities through to reporting outcomes and supporting improvement initiatives across the business.

Working closely with site and corporate stakeholders, you will help define what good looks like, strengthen governance and drive consistency across operations operating at different stages of maturity. Your work will influence how standards are interpreted, implemented and continuously improved across Evolution.

Key responsibilities:

  • Leading Evolution's sustainability assurance program across operational and corporate functions.
  • Developing risk-based assurance plans that align with key business risks, operational priorities and emerging trends.
  • Determining audit priorities, scopes, methodologies and assurance activities across health, safety, training and environmental disciplines.
  • Leading and coordinating audit teams to deliver consistent, high-quality assurance outcomes across multiple operations.
  • Providing independent advice on the effectiveness of systems, controls, standards and governance frameworks.
  • Driving consistency in the interpretation and application of standards across the business.
  • Identifying systemic risks, trends and improvement opportunities to strengthen organisational performance.
  • Reviewing significant incident investigations and contributing to assurance and governance forums.
  • Supporting the development, review and enhancement of Evolution's sustainability standards and assurance framework.

About You

You are an experienced assurance professional who enjoys bringing structure, consistency and clarity to complex operational environments.

You understand how to work across multiple sites and stakeholder groups, balancing governance requirements with operational realities. Comfortable influencing without direct authority, you build credibility through thoughtful challenge, sound judgement and a collaborative approach.

Most importantly, you are comfortable owning the assurance process. You can identify where assurance effort is needed most, make informed recommendations on audit priorities and lead programs that deliver meaningful insights and practical outcomes.

Your experience will include:

  • Qualifications in occupational health and safety, environmental science, engineering, auditing, risk management or a related discipline.
  • Lead auditor qualifications, or significant lead auditor experience, with exposure to ISO 45001 and/or ISO 14001 management systems.
  • Experience developing and leading assurance or audit programs within mining, resources or another complex industrial environment.
  • Demonstrated experience leading audit teams and coordinating assurance activities across multiple sites.
  • Strong understanding of management systems, governance frameworks and control effectiveness.
  • Experience developing, interpreting and embedding operational standards.
  • Strong analytical capability with the ability to identify root causes, emerging trends and practical improvement opportunities.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence leaders across the business.

At Evolution, we support, develop and reward everyone who chooses to be a part of our bright future. Your benefits include relocation support assistance, novated car leasing, life insurance and income protection, short term incentives, referral bonuses, recognition program, study assistance, discounted health insurance and wellness days.
