Our Opportunity
Work Location: Perth (with occasional site travel to Iron Bridge) – Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people and Iron Bridge Operations is located on the traditional lands of the Nyamal people.
Roster: Monday to Friday, with monthly site travel as required

We are seeking a commercially astute and strategic Principal Management Accountant (Principal Finance Business Partner) to join our finance team. This role combines strong technical management accounting capability with high-level business partnering across operational and leadership teams.
Reporting to the Commercial Manager Iron Bridge, the Principal Accountant provides strategic financial leadership, shaping business decisions, driving value creation, and positioning finance as a key enabler of enterprise performance and transformation, while leading budgeting and forecasting across the Iron Bridge operational and capital portfolio and delivering strategic insights that influence outcomes, identify value opportunities, and support senior stakeholders as a trusted advisor.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning across the Iron Bridge operational and capital portfolio
- Deliver high-quality monthly management reporting, including insightful variance analysis and performance commentary
- Provide financial insight that drives high impact decision making, including advanced financial modelling, scenario analysis, and business case evaluation
- Identify and evaluate risks, opportunities, and value optimisation initiatives to improve business performance
- Support capital investment decisions and provide financial oversight of portfolio
- Partner with senior operational leaders to influence commercial outcomes and drive accountability for performance
- Strengthen and oversee financial governance, controls, and reporting frameworks
- Lead and contribute to business improvement programs, driving efficiency, discipline, and value creation
- Build organisational capability through coaching, mentoring, and leadership of finance team members
- Establish and maintain best practice management accounting and reporting standards
- Develop strong relationships with site based teams, including regular engagement with Iron Bridge operations
Qualifications and Experience
To succeed in this role, you will be a commercially driven finance leader with strong strategic thinking and the ability to translate complex financial information into clear, actionable insights. You will bring a confident leadership presence, with proven experience influencing senior stakeholders and operating effectively in a dynamic, operational environment.
Essential:
• CA / CPA / ACCA qualified
• 5+ years’ experience in management accounting, commercial finance, or business partnering
• Strong financial modelling and analytical capability Experience in [industry – e.g., mining, infrastructure, energy, manufacturing]
• Advanced Excel skills (experience with BI tools highly regarded)
• Demonstrated experience partnering with senior operational stakeholders
• Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills
Desirable:
• Strong financial modelling and analytical capability Experience in [industry – e.g., mining, infrastructure, energy, manufacturing]
• Experience in capital-intensive or complex operational environments
• ERP system experience (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Pronto, etc.)
