About the role
Are you passionate about technology and excited to work with some of the world’s largest autonomous machines? Do you thrive in a fast-paced mining environment and have a strong focus on safety and production targets? If so, you could be our next Pit Patroller at our Marandoo Mining Operation.
In this vital role, you’ll collaborate closely with Central Control to ensure the safety and efficiency of the pit operations. Known as “The Eyes of the Pit,” you’ll be responsible for surveying and refining roads and locations, responding to AHS faults, working alongside mobile plant operators to proactively manage pit conditions, and supporting supervisors with leadership duties as needed.
We’re looking for candidates with experience in similar roles, step-up positions, or Central Control. Familiarity with systems like Frontrunner or Minestar and exceptional communication and leadership skills are highly valued.
As a Pit Patroller / Field builder reporting to the Production Supervisor, your accountabilities will:

Undertake daily Pre- task Risk Assessments, perform all tasks in strict accordance to RTIO safety standards and procedures whilst championing a strong safety culture.

Provide support to the production leadership team with activities such as assisting with and executing PSI’s, leadership in the field interactions, attending Plan of Day and grade control meetings as required and working collaboratively with the Central Controller throughout the shift.

Attending and correcting Autonomous Haulage Truck (AHT) faults and obstacle detection events, monitoring fleet performance, identifying hazards and communicating with the supervisors/central control potential safety and production constraints such as inclement weather, slippery or dusty environments, road conditions, dig unit moves and assisting in escorting unequipped vehicles safely through AHT area.

Surveying and refining roads, dumps and locations to ensure safe and efficient haulage, managing critical taught courses such as crusher, fuel bay and park up locations and ensuring dumping and dig locations are secured and demarcated if not in use.

Assist Dig unit operators in improving spot times, continuously monitoring windrow heights, post blast inspections, demarcation and Pit signage duties, assist with hot-seating plans and transporting pit personnel to their relevant work areas in a safe and timely fashion.

Provide training to other team members and actively engage in continuous improvement initiatives.
About you

A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team

An Australian C Class manual drivers’ licence or higher

Experience with Minestar or Frontrunner systems

Currently working in a mining operation

Strong communication skills

Ability to work safely and cooperatively in a team, demonstrating flexibility to business requirements

You must be currently be residing in WA
-
Proof of permanent Australian residency with full working rights and without the need for sponsorship

Where you’ll be working
The Marandoo mine is located at the foot of Mount Bruce adjacent to the Karijini National Park, 50 km east of the town of Tom Price. Marandoo is known for its picturesque hills and mountain ranges. Our operation currently employs a fly-in fly-out workforce.
