About the Company

Glencore's Mt Owen/Glendell Operations (MGO) is an open cut mining operation located in the Hunter Coalfields at Hebden, NSW, producing thermal and semi-soft coking coal predominantly exported for power generation and steel production.

About the Role

Mining Superintendent – Drill and Blast is an experienced leadership role reporting to the Mining Manager. This is a Monday to Friday, dayshift role accountable for leading MGO’s high performing work teams (including Supervisors, Employees and Contractors).

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead MGO’s high performing work teams (including Supervisors, Employees and Contractors).
  • Liaise with and influence a diverse range of employees and senior leaders.
  • Manage key operational activities including drilling, blasting and contractor management.
  • Ensure adherence to policy and procedures in accordance with the Glencore Management Framework.
  • Drive for results, communicate effectively, and monitor safety, people and productivity metrics.

Requirements / About You

  • Previous experience in operational leadership roles with ability to liaise with diverse teams and senior leaders.
  • Proven experience in drilling, blasting and contractor management.
  • Mining Superintendent or Supervisor experience specifically in Drill & Blast and/or Production.
  • Current NSW Explosive Security Clearance (desirable).
  • Current Mining Engineering Manager Practising Certificate (desirable).
  • Computer literacy to measure, record and analyse reporting on safety, people and productivity to exceed plan and improve performance.
