Job Description

As a Mining Superintendent at Hail Creek Open Cut, you will be a confident and capable leader of large teams, with strong communication and negotiation skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple departments. Working closely with Mining Supervisors and Open Cut Examiners you will play a key role in driving a safe work environment while ensuring production and productivity targets are achieved and mining schedules are delivered on time and to plan.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive production execution to safely meet or exceed budgeted overburden and coal targets.
  • Identify and manage constraints to production; escalate critical issues to the Mine Manager in a timely manner.
  • Develop and implement contingency plans to mitigate production risks.
  • Support operation or divisional budget in terms of managing resources effectively including monitoring and controlling costs.
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities in the mine operations and implement improvement plans.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing production team aligned with Glencore values and Hail Creek expectations.
  • Develop and mentor frontline supervisors and operators, support leadership identification and succession planning.

About You

You are a proactive, results-driven and resilient professional with extensive production experience and a strong passion for people leadership. You have a proven ability to deliver successful mining designs and schedules, supported by strong execution and planning capabilities. Highly motivated and solution-focused, you bring excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills, along with well-developed problem-solving abilities. You are committed to building and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships to achieve optimal operational outcomes.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Recognised Standard 22 minimum level 5 competencies for allocated position
  • Certificate III level equipment operations experience in a mining environment
  • Minimum 5 years’ operating experience managing production teams in a large mining operation
  • Experience in supervising projects, pit services, dewatering, drill and blast activities
  • RIIRIS301 - Apply risk management processes (or equivalent)
  • RIIWHS301 - Conduct safety and health investigations (or equivalent)
  • RIICOM301 - Communicate information (or equivalent)
  • Glencore Risk Management (GRM2) or RIIRIS402 Carry out the Risk Management Process
  • Current drivers licence
