GFM has complex mining sequence, multiple operating fronts, and significant interactions among development, stoping, ventilation, backfill, infrastructure, services, and production readiness. George Fisher has a long mine life and is a key strategic asset for Glencore globally.

About the Role

• The Mining Engineer - Medium Term Planning is responsible for developing, maintaining and continuously improving mine plans and schedules that support delivery of production and development targets.
• The position can be Brisbane based, FIFO to Mt Isa or Mt Isa based.
• The operation: George Fisher Mine (GFM) is a large-scale underground zinc-lead-silver operation based in Mt Isa, QLD.

Experience required

• Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering or related subject.
• Demonstrated experience in underground hard rock mining, preferably with exposure to mine planning, scheduling or technical services roles.
• Experience using mine planning and design software (e.g. Deswik, Surpac or equivalent) for development planning, stope sequencing and schedule analysis.
• Strong understanding of underground mining methods, development requirements and production sequencing.
• Ability to interpret and integrate geological, geotechnical, ventilation and operational constraints into practical mine plans.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess planning risks, identify constraints and develop practical solutions.
