The Wonarah Phosphate Project represents a landmark greenfields mining development and will become the Northern Territory's first phosphate mine. About the Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for an early career Mining Engineer to join the Technical Services team and support the establishment of a new mining operation. Reporting to the Senior Mining Engineer, you will contribute to mine planning, drill and blast activities, operational reporting and geotechnical monitoring while working closely with geology, mining, survey and maintenance teams.

As part of a start-up environment, you'll gain exposure across technical and operational functions while helping develop the systems and processes required to transition the operation into production. The role offers broad exposure and the chance to contribute from day one.

Roster and Location

Working on a FIFO roster, you will join a close-knit team during a pivotal stage of project development. With direct exposure to site leadership, you'll gain valuable technical and operational experience while seeing the impact of your work firsthand.

Key Responsibilities

• Support mine planning activities

• Assist with drill and blast design, QAQC and optimisation

• Monitor mining performance and identify improvements

• Contribute to reporting, budgeting and forecasting activities

• Support grade control and ore recovery outcomes with geology teams

• Collaborate with stakeholders to improve safety, productivity and operational performance

About You

• Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering preferred, although candidates with experience in technical services, mine planning, mine operations, surveying, geology, civil engineering or related mining disciplines are encouraged to apply

• 2–5 years' experience in open-cut mining operations

• Exposure to mine planning, scheduling and operational support activities

• Experience using mining software such as Deswik, Micromine, ShotPLUS, MineSched or similar

• Understanding of drill and blast, QAQC and operational support activities

• Strong analytical, problem-solving and reporting skills

• Ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment

• Adaptable and willing to contribute across a range of technical and operational functions
