About the Company
Anglo American Australia Grosvenor Mine – an underground steelmaking coal mine produced its first longwall coal in May 2016 and is located in Moranbah, about 190 km south-west of Mackay. We are building the team to deliver the next chapter of Grosvenor Mine. With a planned return to longwall production by Q4 2027, this is a unique opportunity to contribute to a major mine restart and help shape the future of underground mining.
About the Role
As a Mine Trades Technician: Mechanical, you will carry out planned and breakdown maintenance on a wide range of underground coal mining equipment across the underground operations. Working alongside experienced tradespeople, you will further develop your fault-finding and diagnostic skills while contributing to equipment rebuilds, component overhauls, and change-outs. We are seeking experienced tradespeople with competencies in underground diesel mobile equipment.This role requires a strong commitment to safety, attention to detail, and a proactive mindset focused on identifying defects and continuous improvement opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform planned and breakdown maintenance on underground mining equipment, including diesel equipment, conveyors, pumps, and fixed plant.
- Assist with equipment rebuilds, overhauls, and component change-outs to support underground operations.
- Work alongside experienced tradespeople to develop strong fault-finding and diagnostic capability.
- Interpret SAP work orders, maintenance instructions, engineering drawings, and OEM manuals.
- Ensure all work is completed in line with site safety, statutory, and environmental requirements.
- Proactively identify equipment defects and improvement opportunities.
- Accurately complete maintenance documentation and inspection reports.
- Participate in pre-starts, toolbox talks, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Certificate III in Engineering: Mechanical (or equivalent).
- Current Standard 11 (Surface & Underground).
- Proven experience in mechanical maintenance within an underground coal mining environment.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver best-practice mechanical maintenance.
- Strong commitment to safety and adherence to site standards.
- High attention to detail and quality of workmanship.
- Eagerness to learn, develop technical capability, and progress within the mining industry.

- Full-time permanent position based at Grosvenor Mine, Moranbah QLD
- 7 on, 7 off 12-hr day/night roster
- Company funded camp with meals provided
- Employed under the Grosvenor 2022 Enterprise Agreement
- Residential, FIFO (salary sacrifice) & DIDO options
- Several conveniently timed, daily bus transfers from the airport to camp and onto site
