Job Description:As a Mine Trades Technician – Mechanical in the Workshop, you will carry out planned and breakdown maintenance on a wide range of underground coal mining equipment in a controlled workshop environment. Working alongside experienced tradespeople, you will further develop your fault-finding and diagnostic skills while contributing to equipment rebuilds, component overhauls, and change-outs.This role requires a strong commitment to safety, attention to detail, and a proactive mindset focused on identifying defects and continuous improvement opportunities.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform planned and breakdown maintenance on underground mining equipment, including, pumps, diesel equipment, and fixed plant within the workshopAssist with equipment rebuilds, overhauls, and component change-outs to support underground operationsWork alongside experienced tradespeople to develop strong fault-finding and diagnostic capabilityInterpret SAP work orders, maintenance instructions, engineering drawings, and OEM manualsEnsure all work is completed in line with site safety, statutory, and environmental requirementsProactively identify equipment defects and improvement opportunitiesAccurately complete maintenance documentation and inspection reportsParticipate in pre-starts, toolbox talks, and continuous improvement initiatives Qualifications:Certificate III in Engineering: Mechanical (or equivalent)Current Standard 11 (Surface & Underground)DES and brake test qualifications will be highly regardedProven experience in mechanical maintenance within an underground coal mining environmentDemonstrated ability to deliver best-practice mechanical maintenanceStrong commitment to safety and adherence to site standardsHigh attention to detail and quality of workmanshipEagerness to learn, develop technical capability, and progress within the mining industry Additional information:Full-time, permanent position7 on, 7 off rosterDIDO, FIFO (salary sacrifice), Residential options availableSubsidised accommodation availableAttractive salary, annual bonusWhat we Offer When you join Anglo American, you can expect to enjoy a competitive salary and benefits package.
