Our Tier 1 Mining Client is looking for an experienced Mine Planning Engineer to join a major mining organisation in Perth, supporting the integration of near-term mine planning with infrastructure and operational requirements.

Roster: 5/2 Perth CBD - 9 hours per day

Start date: ASAP

Duration: approx. 12 months - depending on client requirements with potential for extension

Pay Rate: $110.00 - $120.00 p/h + Super depending on experience

The Role:

This is a great opportunity for a mining engineer who genuinely understands mine planning, mine design and operational sequencing, and enjoys working across technical and operational teams.

Reporting to the Principal Engineer - Planning Systems & Integration, you will act as a key interface between mine planning teams and infrastructure stakeholders.

You will be responsible for translating approved near-term mine plans into infrastructure requirements and ensuring infrastructure schedules remain aligned with the mine planning cycle.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Working closely with 2-year planning and operations planning teams
  • Translating mine plans into near-term infrastructure and energisation requirements
  • Assessing changes to mine plans and their impact on infrastructure requirements
  • Modelling HME charging demand, including charger requirements and locations
  • Maintaining an integrated pit register covering planned and existing equipment and infrastructure requirements
  • Identifying conflicts between mine sequencing, fleet deployment and infrastructure/energisation schedules
  • Supporting change management where mine plans or infrastructure requirements change
  • Assessing cost and schedule impacts associated with mine plan changes
  • Ensuring the latest approved mine plan is being used across relevant planning activities
  • Supporting the quarterly planning cycle and associated data updates
  • Working with technical and operational stakeholders to identify practical solutions
  • Supporting standardisation of electrical infrastructure planning and design

Experience Required:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Mine Planning or a related discipline
  • At least 2 years' experience in open-pit mining operations and mine planning
  • Experience with short- to medium-term mine planning, ideally including a 2-year planning horizon
  • Strong understanding of mine design and mine sequencing
  • Experience using mine planning software such as Deswik, Alastri, Vulcan or similar
  • Understanding of fleet deployment and operational planning
  • Strong understanding of the relationship between mine planning, geology, geotechnical, drill & blast and operations
  • An understanding of electrical infrastructure and energisation planning concepts
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • The ability to communicate technical risks, opportunities and impacts clearly
