Our Cadia Valley Operation in New South Wales is situated about 25 kilometers from Orange and 250 kilometers west of Sydney. Cadia produces gold doré bars from a gravity circuit and gold-rich copper concentrates from a flotation circuit. The operation includes the Cadia East Mine which is globally renowned for its use of block caving, a large-scale underground mining method.

About the Role

Reporting to the Supervisor Geology, the Mine Geologist (12‑month fixed term) will provide essential geological expertise to support production, development mining, and drilling operations at Newmont Cadia.

The Mine Geologist will uphold an absolute commitment to safety by actively supporting the Safety Management System, fostering an Always Safe work culture, and consistently applying site standards, procedures, and policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Underground geological mapping, including 3D photogrammetry techniques
  • Updating 3D dimensional structural and lithological interpretations.
  • Deliver robust, well scoped and risk assessed grade forecasts and stockpile strategies to achieve business objectives.
  • Maximise value at Cadia by tracking grade variance to forecast, and investigating and closing out anomalies in a timely manner.
  • Contributing to the reconciliation process, including reporting and investigation, ensuring the on-time release of concise monthly reconciliation reporting data.
  • Administration and supervision of drilling programs.
  • Providing accurate and timely geological information as required by the broader technical services team.
  • Uphold an absolute commitment to safety by actively supporting the Safety Management System
  • Fostering an Always Safe work culture
  • Consistently applying site standards, procedures, and policies

About You / Requirements

  • A relevant degree or tertiary qualification in Geology or Earth Science
  • Experience in underground mapping, grade control and reconciliation.
  • Experience with geological interpretation and generation of geological models.
  • Experience with drill hole design and contractor supervision
  • Competency in geological or mine planning software packages; experience using Leapfrog, Point Studio and Deswik is desirable
