Our Opportunity
Work Location: Iron Bridge, located on the traditional lands of the Nyamal people.
Roster: 8D/6R - FIFO ex Perth
Iron Bridge is seeking a Mine Engineer – Short Term Planning to join the Short Term Planning team. This role is responsible for developing safe, practical and executable Daily mine plans that support operational delivery, production targets and the efficient use of mining equipment.
Working closely with Mining Operations, Geology, Survey and other key stakeholders, you will translate broader mine plans into detailed short-term schedules and designs, while identifying opportunities to improve safety, productivity, mining sequence and plan compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed short-term daily mine plans, schedules and mining sequences aligned with production targets.
- Prepare practical excavation, haulage and dump plans for operational execution.
- Work closely with Mining Operations to ensure plans are safe, achievable and clearly communicated.
- Monitor mine performance and plan compliance, identifying variances and recommending corrective actions.
- Complete mine design activities including pit stages, ramps, haul roads, working areas and waste landforms.
- Coordinate with Geology, Survey, Drill and Blast and other stakeholders to incorporate operational requirements into mine plans.
- Analyse production, equipment and mining data to identify opportunities to improve productivity and mine performance.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across short-term planning processes, systems and operational practices.
Qualifications and Experience
- Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Previous experience in open-pit mining, preferably within a large-scale mining operation.
- Experience in short-term mine planning, scheduling and mine design.
- Working knowledge of mine planning software such as Deswik, Vulcan, MineSight or similar.
- Strong understanding of open-pit mining methods, production processes and operational constraints.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving capability with the ability to interpret production and technical data.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and operational teams.
