We're looking for an experienced Mechanical Team Leader to join our client's maintenance team in a fast-paced construction materials manufacturing environment. Reporting to the Mechanical Supervisor, you'll lead a team of tradespeople to ensure plant reliability, minimise downtime, and support production targets.
This is a hands-on leadership role that has been created due to growth where you'll coordinate maintenance activities, support continuous improvement, and promote a strong safety culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate mechanical maintenance across plant equipment
- Prioritise resources to meet production and maintenance targets
- Supervise a team of 5-10 Fitters, Boilermakers & Apprentices
- Ensure accurate maintenance and breakdown reporting
- Support training and development of team members
- Coordinate contractors and work with engineering/project teams
- Carry out machinery setup, adjustments, and troubleshooting
- Drive continuous improvement
Safety & Compliance
- Promote and maintain a strong safety-first culture
- Ensure compliance with OHS legislation and company procedures
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping and safe work practices
About You
- Proven experience in a similar maintenance leadership role
- Strong knowledge of plant and manufacturing equipment
- Experience with crushing equipment and process plants
- Extrusion/brickmaking experience (highly regarded, not essential)
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Requirements
- Mechanical Fitter or Boilermaker qualification (Australian, UK or NZ Cert accepted)
- Current Driver's Licence
- Able to pass a pre-employment medical and DAS
- Full Australian working rights
What's on Offer
- Competitive hourly rate whilst on a labour-hire agreement: $70.00 p/h - $75 p/h (depending on exp)
- Overtime available at penalty rates
- 6am-2pm or 10am-6pm combination of both (negotiable)
- Permanency on offer after initial period is completed
