About the Role
IntroductionJoin a major brownfield fixed plant upgrade project supporting the replacement of critical materials handling infrastructure in Port Hedland. Working across shutdown execution, construction, commissioning and handover, you'll coordinate contractors and multidisciplinary teams to safely deliver mechanical works involving conveyors, chutes, surge bins and associated fixed plant equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver mechanical engineering support across construction, shutdown execution, commissioning and handover activities.
- Coordinate contractors and multidisciplinary teams across SMPE&I work scopes.
- Review drawings, specifications, vendor documentation and work packs to ensure constructability and compliance.
- Manage RFIs, technical queries and field changes and non-conformances.
- Support shutdown planning, isolations, lifting activities and commissioning requirements.
- Monitor contractor performance, productivity, schedule and cost performance.
- Review and witness quality documentation including ITPs, ITRs, weld records and mechanical completion dossiers.
- Drive completions, punch list closeout, redline mark-ups and as-built documentation.
- Participate in risk assessments, constructability reviews and field inspections.
- Interface closely with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering and project stakeholders.
About You / Requirements
- Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum 5 years' experience delivering projects within mining, resources or heavy industry.
- Strong brownfield fixed plant construction and shutdown experience.
- Experience with materials handling equipment such as conveyors, chutes, surge bins, crushers and associated fixed plant.
- Proven contractor management and site coordination capability.
- Experience supporting commissioning, completions and handover activities.
- Strong understanding of QA/QC processes, ITPs, MDRs and construction documentation.
- Knowledge of structural steel, mechanical installation, welding, lifting and temporary works.
- Practical, field-focused approach with strong planning and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work a 2:1 roster and travel to Port Hedland.
- Full Australian working rights required.
