Mechanical Estimator Team Lead

Pearl Recruitment are partnering with a well-established engineering and fabrication business who are seeking an experienced Mechanical Estimator to lead a team that will support the delivery on a range of projects around commercial building, oil and gas, industrial, infrastructure, power generation and resources.

Working closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Procurement, key stakeholders and other estimators this position is responsible for preparing accurate, commercially sound cost estimates across mechanical systems and supporting both tendering and project delivery phases. 

This role involves the following but is not limited to:

• Prepare clear, accurate quotes across catalogue items, rebuilds, repeat work, and standard RFQs
• Review drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and specifications to validate scope and cost drivers
• Apply approved pricing logic, catalogue rates, and contract pricing without deviation unless authorised
• Liaise with Procurement to confirm current supplier pricing, lead times, and terms
• Ensure all technical documentation is complete prior to quote submission
• Manage workflow to meet SLA targets
• Maintain accurate version control and records in ERP and quoting systems
• Escalate scope gaps, risks, or delays with recommended mitigation strategies
• Coordinate early with Operations to confirm feasibility and production capacity
• Participate in post-project reviews to improve future accuracy and efficiency

Key Requirements:

• 5-10 years of experience in a Mechanical Estimator position
• Previous management or team leader experience
• Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation
• Proven numerical accuracy with excellent attention to detail under time pressure
• Experience using ERP systems, Excel, and structured quoting tools
• Strong commercial awareness with an understanding of margin protection and risk
• Effective communicator, confident collaborating across multiple internal teams
• Highly organised, proactive, and able to manage competing priorities
• Commitment to continuous improvement and knowledge sharing across the team
