About the Role
We are seeking experienced and safety‑focused Mechanical and Hot Work Supervisors to support the upcoming AMPOL Lytton Refinery Shutdown, located in Lytton, Brisbane (4178). This position is suited to locals.
This shutdown will run from Mid - July till the end of September
As a Supervisor, you will oversee crews delivering critical shutdown activities in a high‑risk industrial environment, ensuring safe, efficient, and high‑quality execution.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate work groups to safely deliver shutdown tasks within schedule and scope.
- Ensure compliance with all permit, isolation, and refinery access requirements.
- Conduct toolboxes, risk assessments, and daily safety leadership activities.
- Monitor progress, report on work fronts, and escalate issues promptly.
- Promote a positive safety culture and mentor team members in safe work behaviours.
- Manage Quality through ITP’s and completion activities
About You
- Considerable experience supervising teams in refinery, petrochemical, or heavy industrial shutdown environments.
- Strong understanding of high‑risk work controls, including W@H, confined space, and isolation processes.
- Comfortable leading diverse teams in fast‑paced, high‑risk conditions.
- Collaborative, calm under pressure, and committed to safe work practices.
Mandatory Requirements
- Current Criminal Background Check OR valid MSIC card (must be current prior to site access).
- Completion of 10 mandatory online training modules (must be 100% complete before attending the face‑to‑face induction—non‑compliance will be turned away).
- High‑risk and competency qualifications, including:
- Working at Heights
- Confined Space
- Highly regarded additional skills:
- Hy‑Torque tooling
- Breathing Apparatus
- Recent Face Fit to 3M full‑face respirator
- Advanced confined space experience
- Shutdown supervision experience
- Strong hazard identification and safety leadership capability
