Your impact

As a Heavy Duty Plant Mechanic at Boddington, you will play a critical role in supporting safe, reliable, and cost-effective open pit mining operations by maintaining and servicing the site’s Heavy Mobile Equipment fleet. Your contribution will directly support production targets by maximising planned maintenance and minimising unplanned downtime, ensuring equipment is operating safely and efficiently.

You’ll apply your trade expertise across diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance while setting strong safety standards and contributing to a high-performing maintenance culture.

As part of our team you will

• Maintain and service CAT haulage and ancillary equipment in line with site maintenance strategies
• Conduct fault finding, diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on Heavy Mobile Equipment
• Maximise scheduled maintenance outcomes and minimise unscheduled equipment downtime
• Apply site safety systems, permits, isolations, and stop-work authority to ensure work is completed safely and compliantly
• Use CAT SIS and VIMS systems to support troubleshooting and equipment health monitoring
• Accurately complete maintenance records and documentation
• Contribute to shut down and campaign maintenance activities as required
• Work collaboratively with planners, supervisors, and operations teams to support production goals
• Demonstrate strong safety leadership and personal accountability in all tasks
• Set positive examples of work ethic, integrity, and professionalism within the crew
• Support continuous improvement initiatives across maintenance practices and fleet reliability

Prerequisites for your success in the role

• Trade qualification as a Heavy Duty Plant Mechanic (or equivalent)
• Experience working on CAT 6040 and CAT 6060 models
• Demonstrated technical experience maintaining Heavy Mobile Equipment in a mining environment
• Strong fault-finding, diagnostics, repair, and preventative maintenance capability
• Exposure to CAT equipment, including SIS and VIMS systems (highly regarded)
• Experience working within structured safety systems and operational maintenance environments
• Experience supporting autonomous haulage or AHS operations (desirable)Proven commitment to safety and risk awareness on site
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively within a team
• Positive mindset with the ability to build productive working relationships

Your work environment

This is a full-time, permanent opportunity at Newmont’s Boddington Gold Mine in Western Australia, operating on a 7 on / 7 off rotating dayshift/ nightshift roster, supporting an expanding CAT haulage and ancillary fleet.

You’ll join a supportive, site-based maintenance team with hands-on exposure to modern mining systems and autonomous haulage technologies, in an environment focused on safety, performance, and continuous improvement.
