About the role
UGL’s heavy maintenance facility in Bassendean, Perth is seeking skilled Mechanical Fitters to perform overhaul activities on Diesel Electric Locomotive Engines and associated components.
We have two roster options available:
- Rotating Roster
- Day Shift: Monday to Friday, 6:00 am – 2:30 pm
- Afternoon Shift: Monday to Thursday, 1:30 pm – 10:30 pm, Friday 1:30 pm – 7:30 pm
- Opportunities for overtime available
OR
- Permanent Full-Time: Monday to Friday, 6:00 am – 2:30 pm
**UGL is open to applicants-based interstate and looking for relocation to Bassendean, WA, relocation assistance maybe on offer to successful candidates not local to the area.**
About the Role / Your Responsibilities as a Mechanical Fitter:
· Disassembly, inspection, qualification, and assembly of GE 7FDL heavy diesel engines
· Overhaul of major engine components such as pumps, turbochargers, and power assemblies
· Actively participate in Lean practices
· Maintain a strong commitment to safety standards
· Engage with and promote UGL’s OneHSE culture
· Access to extensive in-house training
About You
We value diverse experiences and perspectives. To succeed in this role, you will have:
- A relevant mechanical qualification (e.g., Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic, Mechanical Fitter)
- Experience in heavy diesel engine maintenance or component overhaul
- High level of mechanical aptitude
- Experience with diesel electric locomotive engines (Highly regarded)
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- A valid driver’s license
