Manufacturing QC - NDT - QTMP

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing QC Inspector – Non‑Destructive Testing (NDT) to support train bogie and carbody manufacturing operations on QTMP.

This is a hands‑on, high‑impact role where your inspections and technical judgement will directly influence the quality, safety and delivery of Queensland’s next-generation passenger fleet.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct Non‑Destructive Testing and inspection activities across train manufacturing operations
• Ensure compliance with quality, safety and regulatory standards, aligned with Downer’s Zero Harm commitment
• Achieve and maintain NDT performance KPIs in support of production delivery milestones
• Identify, report and escalate quality issues that may impact schedule or safety
• Promote a strong quality culture and continuous improvement mindset
• Collaborate effectively with internal teams, suppliers and project stakeholders
• Read, interpret and apply weld, fabrication and manufacturing standards
• Support cost efficiency by identifying improvement and waste‑reduction opportunities
• Lead by example, fostering teamwork, accountability and high performance

About You

You’re a quality‑driven professional who takes pride in your work and understands the impact it has on safety and production outcomes. You will bring:

• ISO 9712 Level 2 certification in Magnetic Particle, Ultrasonic, Penetrant and Visual Weld Inspection
• Several years’ experience in NDT, preferably within rail or heavy manufacturing
• Strong capability to interpret and apply welding, fabrication and manufacturing standards
• A genuine commitment to safety, quality and Zero Harm principles
• Clear communication skills and the ability to work across diverse teams
• A proactive approach to problem‑solving and continuous improvement
• The ability to work independently while contributing strongly to a team environment
• A leadership mindset that promotes quality, accountability and excellence
