Job Statement

Lead from the front and shape the future of underground mining at our Ulysses operation in the prolific Leonora gold district. Genesis Minerals is seeking an experienced Underground Manager to drive safe, efficient and cost-effective production while building a high-performing, values-led team.

This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for optimising underground mining activities, delivering on production and financial targets, and ensuring the highest standards of safety, environmental management and contractor performance.

The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will oversee all underground mining activities, managing contractor performance and leading a multidisciplinary technical and operational team. You will drive planning excellence across life-of-mine, budgets and forecasts, while fostering a transparent, safety-first culture where risks are proactively managed and performance is continuously improved.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead underground operations to safely achieve production, cost and quality targets
• Manage mining contractors to ensure delivery against contractual, safety and performance expectations
• Develop and execute life-of-mine plans, budgets and reforecasts
• Oversee short, medium and long-term planning aligned to the mine plan
• Analyse production and cost performance, identifying and addressing variances
• Build, lead and develop a high-performing underground team
• Maintain strong collaboration with geology, processing, haulage and other site functions
• Uphold statutory obligations as Underground Manager under WA legislation

About You:

You are a proven underground leader who combines technical expertise with strong commercial acumen and a genuine commitment to safety. You lead with integrity, build trust across teams and contractors, and create an environment where people are accountable, capable and engaged.

You will bring:

• First Class Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency (WA)
• Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering (or related discipline)
• Demonstrated success leading underground operations at a senior level
• Strong contractor management and cost control experience
• Proven capability in mine planning, budgeting and performance optimisation
• A collaborative leadership style with a focus on safety, culture and results
• Current C Class Manual Driver’s Licence
