About the Role

We are seeking a Maintenance Planner to join our team at Portland Aluminium. As a Planner at our Portland Smelter, you are responsible for maximise maintenance and process effectiveness and efficiency by planning all scheduled activities prior to a job. This involves safely integrating manufacturing and financial requirements into an effective Maintenance Plan. The Maintenance Planner strives to continuously improve productivity and work quality by anticipating and eliminating potential delays through effective planning and co-ordination.

What you can bring to the role

  • A Mechanical (Fitting & Turning) or Electrical Trade Certificate or Degree is advantageous however applicants with planning experience desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal skills that enable you to establish relationships and communicate with ease, at all levels of the organisation.
  • Dedication to environment, health and safety in the workplace and the ability to actively contribute to safety improvement initiatives.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to co-ordinate multiple project/planning initiatives within the maintenance group.
  • Experience in heavy industry and the use of computer-based maintenance systems is advantageous.

Our Portland Smelter is a joint venture between Alcoa of Australia (55%), CITIC (22.5%) and Marubeni Aluminium Australia (22.5%). Alcoa manages the day-to-day operations at the smelter and we produce approximately 19 per cent of Australia’s total aluminium production in Portland.
