About the Role
MacKellar is seeking an experienced Leading Hand Operator to join our Nyngan mining operation.
This is a hands-on role where you'll lead by example, providing day-to-day support to production crews while remaining actively involved in operating equipment. You will work closely with Supervisors to promote safe work practices, coordinate activities and help achieve production targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and guidance to production operators
- Operate mining equipment as required
- Assist with coordinating daily work activities across the crew
- Promote and maintain a strong safety culture
- Conduct pre-start meetings and support compliance activities
- Monitor production performance and identify improvement opportunities
- Liaise with Supervisors regarding operational requirements and site priorities
About You
- Extensive experience in a production mining environment
- Demonstrated experience operating production mining equipment, particularly Excavators and Dozers
- Previous Leading Hand or crew leadership experience highly regarded
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Commitment to safety, teamwork and continuous improvement
- Current RII competencies and relevant operating experience
