Our Mackay Workshop, located in Paget is your ultimate destination for mine equipment and motor overhauls, fabrication, machining, and mechanical/electrical overhauls. We’re not just a workshop; we are the driving force behind offsite services, delivering cutting-edge solutions for onsite challenges.

About Your Role

As the Leading Hand - Electrical, you will provide day-to-day leadership to a team of electrical tradespeople while ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.

You will be responsible for:

  • Leading and mentoring a team of electricians and trades assistants
  • Coordinating daily workshop activities and project delivery
  • Conducting inspections and preparing job scopes
  • Preparing quotations and supporting customer requirements
  • Ensuring work is completed on time, within budget and to quality standards
  • Managing resources, equipment and materials
  • Promoting a strong safety-first culture
  • Identifying and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Roster: 40 Hours per week, Monday to Thursday - 6am - 4.30pm (10 hours per day, 30-minute lunch)

About You

You are a hands-on leader with strong technical capability and the ability to get the best out of your team.

Ideally, you will bring:

  • Previous experience as a Leading Hand, Supervisor or Foreperson
  • Strong industrial electrical maintenance experience
  • Knowledge of AC/DC motor rewinds and flameproof motors (AS3800)
  • Experience planning jobs, coordinating resources and managing workflows
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Commitment to safety and quality outcomes
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement

Essential Qualifications:

  • Current Queensland Electrical Licence
  • Relevant Electrical Trade Certificate
  • Current Driver's Licence

Desirable:

  • Industrial electric vehicle component overhaul experience
  • HVNL Load Manager training
  • SAP experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

  • Assist tradespeople by positioning and holding metal stock or products to enable work to be carried out;
  • Hand tools to tradespeople, and hold tools not immediately required;
  • Perform assembly and dismantling operations, such as screwing and bolting;
  • Transport tools, materials and work pieces to and from sites or workbenches;
  • Clean and prepare working surfaces
  • Operate grinders, jack hammers etc as instructed
  • Trade Assistants may specialise as boilermaker's assistants, fitters' assistants.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 months experience on a maintenance site preferred but not essential
  • Elevated Work Platform Ticket preferred but not essential
  • 'C' Class Drivers License
  • Able to perform duties, maintaining high standards in both Safety and Quality.
