Leading Hand Diesel Fitter | FIFO Brisbane | 8/6 Roster | $82.00/hr + Super Lead a high-performing maintenance team with one of Australia's leading mining contractors.

We're currently seeking an experienced Leading Hand Diesel Fitter to join our maintenance team on a major mining operation, providing hands-on leadership while supporting the reliability of our heavy mobile fleet.

About the role
As the Leading Hand Diesel Fitter, you'll provide day-to-day leadership to the maintenance team while remaining actively involved in servicing and repairing heavy mining equipment. You'll help coordinate maintenance activities, mentor tradespeople and ensure work is completed safely, efficiently and to the highest standard.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and mentoring a team of Diesel Fitters and Service Personnel
- Coordinating planned maintenance, breakdowns and component replacements
- Carrying out diagnostics, fault-finding and complex repairs
- Allocating work and supporting daily maintenance planning
- Ensuring maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently and on schedule
- Promoting a positive safety culture and maintaining workshop standards
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives to maximise fleet reliability
- Working closely with Supervisors and Operations to achieve maintenance targets
About you
To be successful in this role, you'll have:
- Australian recognised Diesel Fitter or Heavy Vehicle trade qualification
- Previous experience in a Leading Hand or supervisory role within mining or heavy earthmoving
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
- Experience maintaining heavy mobile mining equipment
- Proven ability to lead, coach and support maintenance teams
- Strong commitment to safety, teamwork and quality workmanship
- Current Driver Licence
