Leading Hand - Diesel Fitter

Roster: 5/4/4/5 rotating day and night shift roster
Location: Boundary Hill, QLD
Rate: $78.28 per hour + super paid on all rostered hours

About the Role

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will play a key role in coordinating day-to-day maintenance activities while providing practical leadership and technical guidance to the crew. This is a hands-on position where you'll lead by example, ensuring equipment reliability, quality workmanship and safe maintenance practices across the site.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading and supporting a team of maintenance personnel across workshop and field environments
• Coordinating planned and breakdown maintenance activities
• Assisting with diagnostics, fault finding and repairs on heavy mobile equipment
• Ensuring maintenance tasks are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard
• Supporting crew development through mentoring and knowledge sharing
• Promoting a strong safety culture and maintaining compliance with site procedures
• Liaising with supervisors, planners and operations personnel to minimise equipment downtime

About You

You are an experienced tradesperson with strong leadership capability and a passion for developing teams. You enjoy working alongside your crew, solving technical problems and delivering reliable maintenance outcomes in a fast-paced mining environment.

To be successful, you will have:

• Trade qualification as a Heavy Diesel Fitter, Plant Mechanic or similar
• Previous Leading Hand experience, or the capability to step into a leadership role
• Strong experience maintaining heavy earthmoving and mining equipment
• Well-developed diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
• Current Queensland Driver's Licence
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• A commitment to safety, teamwork and continuous improvement
