About the Role

Reporting to the Manager Delivery, we are seeking a Lead Technology Architecture to lead solution architecture governance across MinAU Coal Technology. This role provides strategic and practical leadership across technology planning, solution design and architecture governance, and is accountable for establishing and maintaining standards, governance frameworks and review processes that ensure technology investments are aligned to business priorities, safe by design, and delivered against a clear target state.

Based in Brisbane, this role is offered with flexible working arrangements and regular engagement across site, regional and enterprise stakeholders. The role leads and allocates Solution Architects supporting the Technology Project Delivery Group and Component Work Package Team, with some travel to MinAU Coal sites for architecture workshops, reviews and stakeholder engagement.

Your key responsibilities in this role would be:

  • Demonstrate an overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainability, ensuring solutions are safe by design and appropriate for operational environments.

  • Lead solution architecture governance across the MinAU Coal Technology portfolio, setting direction for current and future state solutions aligned to business strategy, risk appetite and operational priorities.

  • Lead, mentor, and develop Solution Architects, providing coaching, technical guidance, performance support and career development across the architecture capability.

  • Own architecture outcomes across the portfolio - establish and maintain standards, principles, design patterns and target architectures that improve reuse, reduce complexity and support reliable delivery.

  • Establish and operate architecture governance frameworks and review processes, including chairing architecture review forums and ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture principles and standards.

  • Partner with business, operations and delivery leaders to translate business needs into practical architecture roadmaps and investment choices that improve operational performance.

  • Provide architecture leadership across key technology domains, including OT and IT infrastructure, networks and communications, cyber, hosting and backup, digital and data platforms, end-user computing, and control systems and SCADA.

  • Manage the allocation of Solution Architects across the Technology Project Delivery Group and Technology Component Work Package Team, balancing workload, capability and delivery priorities to ensure appropriate coverage.

  • Establish and maintain strong stakeholder engagement and communication, facilitating workshops and decision forums to align architecture choices, resolve interfaces and manage trade-offs.

  • Drive architecture strategy and planning aligned to MinAU Coal Technology direction, identifying opportunities for standardisation, reuse, simplification and roadmap alignment across the portfolio.

  • Identify and manage architecture risks, technical debt and design control gaps using the relevant governance and risk frameworks.

  • Drive continuous improvement in architecture practices through standardisation, reference patterns, lessons learned and practical simplification of the technology landscape.

  • Oversee solution design quality and delivery alignment, ensuring designs meet architecture standards, are fit for purpose, and can be delivered effectively through project and work package teams.

About You

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in information technology, engineering, computer science, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in technology architecture leadership, including architecture governance, standards development, roadmapping, design assurance and the operation of architecture review processes.
  • Experience shaping and assuring solutions in complex operational environments, including one or more of OT and IT infrastructure, networks and communications, cyber, digital and data platforms, end-user computing, and control systems and SCADA.
  • Exposure to Domain and Enterprise Architecture.
  • Strong safety leadership with a proven commitment to safe and compliant technology design and delivery.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise architecture and solution architecture methods, integration patterns, lifecycle governance and the management of risk, technical debt and standards compliance.
  • Experience operating in complex, matrixed environments, with the ability to support investment decisions through practical option assessment, vendor engagement and value-based trade-offs.
  • Proven people leadership capability, with experience building team capability, mentoring architects and influencing outcomes through collaboration and clear technical leadership.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to influence decisions across business, operations, delivery and technical teams.
  • Knowledge of mining operations and technology environments, with enterprise architecture certification such as SABSA, TOGAF preferred.
