Lead Project Engineer

About the Role

Lead the end-to-end delivery of a major bulk earthworks package on a large-scale tailings project. Drive safe, compliant and efficient execution across high-volume excavation, embankment construction, haul roads and mass cut/fill operations. Perth based role and move to DIDO in 2027.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of bulk earthworks scope – excavation, placement, compaction and material movement
• Drive contractor performance against schedule, cost and productivity targets
• Enforce compliance with design specifications, geotechnical requirements and HSE standards
• Optimise earthworks sequencing, haulage strategy and material balance
• Resolve constructability issues in collaboration with engineering/design teams
• Track quantities, progress and reporting accuracy
• Identify and mitigate risks (ground conditions, weather, access constraints)
• Promote a strong safety culture and site leadership presence

About You

• Civil Engineering degree (essential)
• 10+ years’ experience leading bulk earthworks packages on mining or large infrastructure projects
• Proven delivery of large-scale earthworks programs ($100M+)
• Strong understanding of geotechnical controls and compaction requirements
• Demonstrated contractor management in site-based environments
• Working knowledge of Australian standards and WA regulations
• Strong commercial acumen (progress measurement, claims and variations)
• Confident interpreting drawings, specs and survey data
