As part of our Fuels & Energy East business, you'll join a highly experienced engineering team supporting some of Australia's most critical fuel storage and terminal infrastructure. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Lead Engineer - Civil & Structural to provide technical leadership and deliver engineering solutions across operational fuel terminals, hazardous area facilities and brownfield asset improvement projects.

Based in Melbourne, you'll play a key role in leading civil and structural engineering activities, mentoring engineering teams, and delivering safe, compliant and practical solutions that support the ongoing operation and enhancement of critical energy infrastructure assets.

About the Role

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Lead Engineer - Civil & Structural is responsible for leading the delivery of safe, compliant and fit-for-purpose civil and structural engineering solutions across a diverse portfolio of fuel terminal, petrochemical and energy infrastructure projects.

You will provide technical leadership across engineering design, asset integrity, project delivery and operational support activities while ensuring engineering outcomes meet client, regulatory and UGL requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee civil and structural engineering delivery across fuel terminal and energy infrastructure projects.
• Review and approve engineering deliverables including calculations, specifications, technical reports, drawings and design documentation.
• Develop conceptual layouts and practical engineering solutions for brownfield asset upgrades, remediation and life-extension projects.
• Conduct and review structural assessments, condition inspections, dilapidation surveys and asset integrity evaluations.
• Support project phases including scoping, tendering, design, procurement, construction and commissioning.
• Ensure engineering designs comply with Australian Standards, client specifications, statutory requirements and industry best practice.
• Lead, mentor and develop engineers, designers and drafters across multiple projects.
• Manage discipline resources, project priorities and engineering workloads.
• Act as the key civil/structural interface between clients, project teams, operations and external consultants.
• Support tender submissions, technical proposals, estimating and scope development activities.
• Review engineering schedules, forecasts and project performance to ensure successful delivery outcomes.
• Assess ageing assets and develop practical remediation, upgrade and asset life-extension solutions.
• Support site activities including inspections, construction support, commissioning and operational troubleshooting.
• Drive continuous improvement, technical excellence and engineering governance across the discipline.

About You

We are seeking an experienced engineering leader who enjoys working in complex operational environments and delivering practical outcomes for critical infrastructure assets.

You will bring:

• Tertiary qualification in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• 10+ years' experience delivering civil and structural engineering solutions within Oil & Gas, fuel terminals, petrochemical, resources or heavy industrial environments.
• Proven leadership experience managing and developing engineering teams.
• Strong experience delivering brownfield engineering, construction and commissioning projects.
• Demonstrated capability in structural assessments, condition inspections and asset integrity evaluations.
• Experience preparing and reviewing structural calculations, technical reports, specifications and engineering documentation.
• Working knowledge of structural design software including SpaceGass and related engineering tools.
• Knowledge of Australian Standards, industry codes and engineering best practice.
• Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and client management skills.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams and project interfaces.
• Ability and willingness to undertake site travel to support inspections, construction and commissioning activities.
• CPEng accreditation preferred. RPEQ and RPEV registration highly regarded.
• Experience within fuel storage terminals, petrochemical facilities or hazardous area environments will be highly regarded.
