We have a new opportunity for a Junior Geologist (Rig) to support an active exploration drilling program with a leading mining operation. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career geologist looking to gain valuable field-based experience while working alongside experienced exploration professionals.
The Opportunity
Working on a 12/9 FIFO roster, you will be responsible for supporting exploration drilling activities, geological data collection, sampling programs, and ensuring drilling operations are completed safely and efficiently.
This role offers excellent exposure to exploration geology and is ideally suited to someone looking to further develop their technical and operational experience within the mining industry.
It's an immediate start too - so if you are available from tomorrow - so are they. They're also happy to wait if you needed to give notice.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and support daily exploration drilling activities
- Assist with geological logging of drill chips and core samples
- Coordinate and manage sample collection, preparation, and dispatch
- Maintain accurate geological records and databases
- Ensure QA/QC procedures are followed throughout drilling programs
- Work closely with drilling contractors and exploration teams
- Conduct field mapping and geological observations as required
- Promote and maintain safe work practices in the field
- Assist with daily reporting and data management activities
About You
- Degree in Geology or Earth Sciences
- Previous exploration, field geology, or drill rig experience preferred
- Strong interest in exploration geology and resource development
- Ability to work effectively in remote field environments
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Competent with Microsoft Office and geological data management systems
- Current Manual Australian Driver's Licence
- 4WD Certificate (or willingness to obtain prior to mobilisation)
- Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol screening
