About Altonorte Altonorte is a metallurgical complex located in the La Negra Industrial District, 25 kilometres from the city of Antofagasta. It produces and markets copper anodes, sulfuric acid and copper in solution (PLS). It forms part of Glencore, one of the world’s largest natural resources companies, whose scale and diversification enables it to fulfil its purpose “to responsibly supply products that are fundamental to the basic components that improve daily life.”

Purpose of the role Lead technically the diagnosis, definition, development and integration of the process solutions, technologies and industrial infrastructure required to achieve the objectives of the project to increase gas capture and the fusion capacity, ensuring that interventions are technically robust, buildable, operable, maintainable and compatible with existing installations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the technical diagnosis of the current gas capture and handling system, taking into account the new applicable standard for smelters.
• Develop and/or validate mass, emissions and energy balances relevant to the project, identifying constraints, bottlenecks and causes of losses in the system.
• Lead the definition of the required infrastructure modifications, including layout, general provisions and spaces required for construction.
• Actively participate in the development and review of conceptual, basic and detailed engineering.
• Lead constructibility reviews of proposed solutions and risk analyses, considering construction and assembly sequences to minimise operational disruption.
• Cost estimation of investments and execution plan for the analysed alternatives; lead the preparation of technical documents for environmental and sector permits.
• Perform technical and economic control of projects with External Service Companies and advise the ESEs in applying Altonorte HS standards.

Requirements Education

• Five-year professional degree or higher. Eligible degrees: Ingeniero Civil, Civil Mecánico, Ingeniero Eléctrico, Metalurgista or equivalent.

Experience

• Minimum 10 years of work experience.
• Minimum 3-6 years in the role or similar.
• Experience with Environmental Management Standards.
• Experience with Regulatory Standards.
• Experience with Quality Standards.
• Experience supervising contracting companies.
• Experience in tendering for procurement of materials and/or services.
• International experience.

Knowledge

• Knowledge of multidisciplinary projects in smelting.
• Knowledge of smelting technologies, gas handling, oxygen plants, environmental permits.
• Desirable: Postgraduate technical, Capex and Opex.
