About the Role
As an Environmental Engineer, you will advise and supervise the operational environmental management of the company, ensuring compliance with procedures, corporate standards, current environmental legislation and established environmental commitments, contributing to operational continuity, environmental risk control and continuous process improvement on site.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct field environmental inspections and follow up corrective actions related to air quality, dust, water, waste and chemicals.
- Identify and raise environmental and safety findings in operational areas, promoting a preventive culture and compliance with established standards.
- Supervise and verify proper waste management, ensuring compliance with current regulations and internal procedures.
- Advise and provide technical support to operational areas and collaborating companies on environmental matters, ensuring compliance with legal requirements, environmental commitments and corporate standards.
- Monitor environmental indicators related to air quality, water quality, waste management and commitments derived from environmental resolutions.
- Coordinate environmental training and dissemination activities for workers and contractors, strengthening knowledge and compliance with environmental requirements.
- Propose and drive opportunities for improvement in operational processes related to environmental management, operational efficiency and environmental performance of the company.
Requirements
- Civil Environmental Engineering degree or related fields: Environmental Engineering, Natural Resources Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering with Environmental focus, Forestry Engineering or Geography.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in mining.
- Minimum 5 years of experience as Environmental Site Engineer/ITO or Environmental Advisor on site.
- Knowledge of environmental regulations DS 148, DS 43, DS 57, DS 90 and NCh1333.
- Experience in monitoring air and water quality, and waste management.
- Experience in following environmental commitments derived from RCA.
- Experience in advising and interacting with operational areas.
- Knowledge of current environmental legislation.
- Desirable ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 experience.
- Desirable experience in environmental reporting to sectoral and environmental bodies (RETC, DGA, Seremi de Salud).
- Desirable English language.
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills.
- Valid Class B driver’s license.
