About Mutanda Mining (MUMI S.A.R.L) Mutanda Mining (MUMI S.A.R.L) is an open-pit mining company with its registered office at 4746, Avenue Laurent Désiré Kabila, Mutoshi, Kolwezi, Lualaba Province, Democratic Republic of the Congo. The company operates a copper and cobalt mining site and owns a hydrometallurgical plant and a sulfuric acid plant.

Role overview MUMI is recruiting one Hydrologist - Senior. Vacancy: 1. Position level: Cadre de collaboration (Senior professional). Type of contract: Permanent. Application deadline: 16 September 2026.

Main objectives of the role Under the direct supervision of the Hydrologist Superintendent, the Senior Hydrologist is responsible for planning, coordinating and managing activities related to surface water and storm water to ensure safe, efficient and sustainable mining operations. The role provides technical leadership in hydrology, mine dewatering, drainage infrastructure, water resource management and monitoring systems, while ensuring compliance with Glencore policies, MUMI SAFEWORK V2 requirements and applicable environmental standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Hydrology, Structural Geology, Civil Engineering, Water Resources Management or related field
• A Master’s degree or higher in Hydrology, Civil Engineering or Water Resources Management is an asset
• Registration with a professional body as an Engineer or Scientist is desirable

Experience

• Minimum 5 years of proven experience in surface water and stormwater management in a mining or civil engineering environment
• Tropical mining experience is a significant advantage
• Experience in design and construction of sumps, drainage channels, culverts and hydraulic infrastructure
• Practical experience in groundwater monitoring, borehole planning, near-mine exploration and dewatering systems
• Knowledge of pump sizing, pipe flow calculations and pump station operation
• Experience in description of geological core samples is an asset
• Experience in supervising technical teams in a mining environment

Skills & Competencies

• Strong technical expertise in hydrology, hydrogeology and surface water management
• Knowledge of hydrological modelling, fluid dynamics and water resources management
• Ability to develop groundwater and surface water management plans
• Experience in implementing monitoring systems and analysing hydrological data
• Analytical, problem solving and technical decision-making abilities
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
• Proficiency with mining/geological software such as Surpac, Deswik and hydrogeological databases
• Ability to develop standards, procedures and technical directives
• Leadership, coaching and team development capabilities
• Communication and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to work autonomously as well as in multidisciplinary teams
• High integrity, sense of responsibility and commitment to safety

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement short-, medium- and long-term surface water and storm water management strategies to support mining operations
• Design and optimise dewatering systems including sumps, drainage channels, culverts, berms and other hydraulic infrastructures
• Monitor groundwater and surface water and assess their impact on slope stability and mining operations
• Develop, maintain and improve hydrological monitoring networks and data collection systems
• Analyse hydrological data and provide technical recommendations to planning and operations teams
• Collaborate with hydrogeology, geotechnical, mining planning, environmental teams, consultants and contractors on water management projects
• Assist in the design, installation and monitoring of groundwater monitoring works
• Manage stormwater drainage systems and adapt infrastructure to evolving mining operations
• Lead technical studies and hydrological modelling to improve water resource management and operational performance
• Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives and cost-effective measures in hydrology
• Supervise, develop and evaluate the performance of Hydrology Technicians and Assistants
• Prepare and manage budgets related to hydraulic infrastructures, monitoring networks and water management projects
• Ensure compliance with Glencore policies, MUMI SAFEWORK V2 requirements, environmental regulations and internal procedures
• Maintain hydrological databases, QA/QC of data and preparation of technical reports for management
• Comply with Glencore environmental management requirements and MUMI policy
