Human Resources & Industrial Relations Manager
MPI Recruitment
Job Description
About the Company
The client is well funded, technically strong and led by a close‑knit leadership team with a history of working together. People tend to stay because they are trusted, supported and not micromanaged.
About the Role
If you’re tired of fixing problems created by weak HR foundations, this role gives you the rare chance to build it properly from the start.
This is a rare opportunity to step into a senior, stand‑alone HR / IR role at a pivotal stage of a mining business moving from exploration/feasibility into development.
You will be the first dedicated HR hire, trusted to establish practical people foundations without unnecessary process or bureaucracy. At a critical point in the business’s lifecycle, the focus is clear: put the fundamentals in place now and prepare the organisation for growth without disrupting a strong, committed culture.
In this role you will:
- Own HR and IR fundamentals for a growing mining business
- Work directly with an experienced, stable executive team
- Review what already exists and improve it where needed
- Put systems and processes in place that are fit for purpose today and scalable for the future
- Operate with autonomy, using judgement rather than templates
- The role is Perth office‑based and closely connected to leadership, offering genuine influence rather than a token HR position.
About You / Requirements
- Has strong mining HR and IR experience
- Understands greenfields or development‑stage projects
- Is practical, commercially minded and culturally aware
- Is comfortable working independently without hand‑holding
- Knows when to act and when to let things grow organically
- This is not a process‑heavy or policy‑driven HR role. It is for someone who wants to add lasting value without disrupting a small, high‑performing team.
How to Apply
If you’re ready to own HR in a business that wants it done properly, apply now or start with a confidential conversation.
Unfortunately, MPI are only able to consider people with appropriate and relevant experience, and who are either Australian Permanent Residents or have the necessary permits to work in Australia and whom are currently in Australia.
