About the Company

Our client, an Australian-owned Mining company, is recruiting a talented WHST Advisor to support establishing activities on a mining site in the Northern Territory.

About the Role

You will be responsible for supporting the review, update and implementation of the organisation and their Contractors’ Safety Management Systems and procedures. You will assess and monitor critical risks, perform workplace inspections and audits, prepare and review documentation, and support incident prevention and response. This is a full-time Temporary role for an expected duration of 2 to 3 months and 10-hour working days, which is available from Darwin or on a FIFO roster from major Australian cities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review, update and prepare HSE Plans, Risk Assessments, SWMS, JSAs, and Permits to Work for multiple mining activities.
  • Support the mobilisation and set-up of the Mining Contractors and the Process Plant team by reviewing the associated HSE documentation and partnering with them to meet the company’s safety standards.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and Safety audits.
  • Support the development of new policies and procedures as the HSE team continues to be established.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant WHS legislation, Codes of Practice, Australian Standards, client requirements, and company policies.
  • Develop and confidently engage and deliver internal/nationally accredited training packages.
  • Conduct/assist SME’s in the verification of competency process, for fixed and mobile plant.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (or equivalent).
  • Certificate IV in Training & Assessment.
  • Previous experience in a WHST Advisor or Officer role, ideally within the mining/processing or heavy industry sector in Australia.
  • Proficient with digital HSE systems and Microsoft Suite.
  • Incident investigation capability (e.g., ICAM) is desirable.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Familiarisation with Learning Management Systems is preferred but not essential.
  • The ability to be adaptable, think on your feet and work autonomously.
