We are currently seeking an experienced HSE Advisor to support the delivery of a major mining and construction project.

This is a site-based position requiring a safety professional with strong experience across major construction, mining, infrastructure or industrial projects. You will provide hands-on safety support, assurance and guidance while working closely with contractors, supervisors and multidisciplinary project teams.

The Opportunity

Working an 8/6 FIFO roster, you will play a key role in maintaining high safety standards across site, with a strong focus on field engagement, contractor compliance, risk management and continuous improvement.

The position will initially be offered as a 6-month contract, with the potential to transition into a permanent position for the right person.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day HSE support across project and construction activities
• Conduct regular site inspections, safety audits and risk assessments
• Monitor contractor compliance with project HSE requirements
• Verify that agreed safety controls are effectively implemented in the field
• Develop and review Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs)
• Review and monitor controls associated with high-risk work activities
• Participate in and lead incident investigations
• Identify emerging safety risks, trends and improvement opportunities
• Coach and mentor frontline supervisors, contractors and project personnel
• Facilitate safety discussions, toolbox meetings and site safety initiatives
• Support corrective action management and close-out
• Work collaboratively across Construction, Engineering, Operations and Project teams
• Promote a proactive, safety-first culture across site

About You

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

• Proven experience as a Safety Advisor on major construction, mining, infrastructure or industrial projects in Australia
• Strong knowledge of Australian WHS legislation, regulations and industry best practice
• Experience conducting site inspections, audits, risk assessments and incident investigations
• Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor and influence frontline supervisors, contractors and project teams
• Experience developing and reviewing SWMS, JHAs and high-risk work controls
• Demonstrated experience monitoring contractor compliance and verifying implementation of project HSE requirements
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary project teams
• Experience leading safety initiatives and promoting a proactive safety culture
• Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety - minimum requirement
• Current Australian Driver's Licence
• Ability to work within a remote FIFO site environment

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma in Work Health and Safety or equivalent qualification
• ICAM, TapRooT® or equivalent incident investigation training
• Previous experience on FIFO construction or mining projects valued at $100M+
• First Aid and Emergency Response qualifications
