About the Role
- We are looking for an experienced HR Adviser to join our People Experience team at Boyne Smelter in Gladstone. This role provides frontline HR support to leaders and employees, with a strong focus on employee relations, case management, policy guidance, leader coaching and consistent delivery of global processes.
- This is a great opportunity for a resilient, pragmatic and relationship-focused HR generalist to work across a wide range of people matters in a fast-paced, high-volume operational environment. You will partner closely with leaders to build capability and contribute to a safe, inclusive and high-performing workplace.
- This is a parental leave cover fixed term contract opportunity until October 2027, based in Gladstone, with a 9-day fortnight roster.
About you
- You enjoy working with people, building capability and helping teams navigate workplace challenges. You bring curiosity, sound judgement and a collaborative approach, along with the ability to influence, coach and support through day-to-day operations, change and complexity. You will bring:
- A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
- Experience in a generalist HR advisory role, ideally within an operational, industrial, resources, manufacturing or similar environment
- Strong employee relations and case management experience, including the ability to manage matters objectively, sensitively and with sound judgement
- Confidence coaching, influencing and constructively challenging leaders while maintaining trusted stakeholder relationships
- Resilience and adaptability to work across a broad scope of HR matters in a fast-paced, high-volume operational environment
- Strong written documentation, confidentiality and case-management discipline, with the ability to navigate HR systems such as Workday, ServiceNow, SAP or similar platforms

Where you’ll be working Boyne Smelters Limited is Australia’s second largest aluminium smelter with a 1,000-person strong workforce. Located approximately 20km south east of Gladstone at Boyne Island on the Central Queensland coast, BSL produces around 500,000 tonnes of aluminium per annum.
Activities at BSL include manufacturing carbon anodes in the carbon plant, aluminium production (smelting) in reduction lines, and casting of molten material into aluminium products ready to ship. The smelter is connected via a conveyor belt to the Queensland Alumina Limited refinery for the supply of alumina.
