About the role
As the Health, Safety & Training Advisor, you'll play a key role in promoting a strong safety culture while ensuring compliance with legislative and company requirements. Working alongside site leaders and operational teams, you'll provide expert advice, coordinate health, safety and training activities, and support continuous improvement across the operation. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys building relationships, solving problems, and making a genuine impact on workplace safety and capability.
What you will be doing
- Actively engage in contractor management & engineering vendors providing support to Whitehaven Coal.
- Ensure that all personnel receive appropriate and effective induction and ongoing training, and that only qualified personnel perform tasks that require accreditation or authorisation.
- Provide specialist training advice to site management and employees.
- Coordinate the site training function under the guidance of the Health, Safety and Training Superintendent
- Support the compliance of the training component of the Mine Health and Safety Management System and Legislation.
- Deliver training and competence to operations with regards to the Mine Training Scheme.
- Assess, Audit and reconcile compliance to Assessment and Authorisations.
- Work with teams to generate schedules for training and updates to assessments or alike.
- Coordinate training providers, cost effective training, and coordinate the provision of training by external providers where required in a cost-effective and efficient manner.
- Maintain a current First Aid Certificate along with up-to-date knowledge and coordinate first aid facilities provision onsite.
- Establish and maintain a Training database identifying employees current competencies and areas for development and develop and maintain up-to-date training materials to meet these needs.
- Respond to requests for training assistance and schedule training requirements appropriately.
- Source training providers, determine cost effective training, and coordinate the provision of training by external providers where required.
- Administer and maintain up to date training records and documentation.
- Administer and maintain up to date training and competency management systems for the open cut operations
- Coordinate monthly reporting and performance statistics in respect of training
What you will Need
- Experience in a similar role within the coal mining industry
- Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (TAE40116 or TAE40122)
- Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety
- Current First Aid Certificate
What's in it for you?
- $80 per hour
- 9 day fortnight , Mon - Fri
- 9hr days with flexible work hours however a requirement to attend prestarts during the week
- Camp available at Boggabri Civeo if required
- Short term role with the potential to move into a permanent role
