About the Role

In this role you will:

  • Act as the Group Technology subject-matter advisor for EHS and safety applications across Downer.
  • Guide Business Units on safety systems roadmaps, solution direction, standards and best practice.
  • Promote consistency, integration and governance standards across safety technology platforms.
  • Partner with Business Unit stakeholders and the business Health, Safety & Environment function to translate safety requirements into effective technology outcomes.
  • Support vendor evaluations, solution assessments and technology investment decisions relating to safety systems.
  • Ensure safety application strategies align with enterprise architecture, security, compliance and data integrity requirements.
  • Provide insight, analysis and recommendations to improve safety systems capability and performance across the Group.
  • Drive collaboration between functional teams, technology teams, vendors and business stakeholders.
  • Champion innovation, continuous improvement and the adoption of modern technology practices.
  • Support future transition to a product-led DevOps operating model should safety systems accountability be brought into Group Technology.

This is a highly visible role where your expertise will influence critical business systems that support Downer's commitment to Zero Harm and operational excellence.

Our Ideal Candidate

You are a collaborative and influential technology professional with experience supporting complex business applications in highly regulated or compliance-focused environments. You excel at building trusted stakeholder relationships and providing expert guidance without direct ownership of systems.

You bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience working with business applications, ideally EHS, safety, compliance, risk or other business-critical systems.
  • Proven ability to advise and influence stakeholders on technology strategy, solution direction and standards.
  • Strong understanding of application architecture, integrations, data management, security and compliance requirements.
  • Experience working with technology vendors, solution providers and implementation partners.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to work across business and technology functions.
  • Analytical and problem-solving capabilities with a focus on delivering practical outcomes.
  • Experience contributing to technology governance, standards and roadmap development.
  • Understanding of Agile and product-led DevOps practices.
  • A passion for continuous improvement, customer outcomes and safety excellence.
