Our Opportunity
Work Location: Perth Office & Site - Fortescue's Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.
Roster: Monday to Friday or 4 days on and 3 days off

Fortescue are presently looking for experienced H&S professionals to join our Decarb team, we have opportunities for both Perth and site-based positions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead health and safety deliverables across the Decarb Test & Performance program, including HME delivery, studies, and first-of-kind equipment deployment
- Facilitate and coordinate safety deliverables across projects, ensuring alignment with project requirements, timelines, and operational readiness objectives
- Lead and participate in safety studies and risk assessments, including HAZID, HAZOP, human factors, design reviews, and scope development activities
- Act as the voice of the customer in design processes, embedding safety-in-design principles into decarbonisation infrastructure and equipment
- Provide specialist advice on health and safety legislative and regulatory requirements, ensuring compliance across all decarbonisation initiatives
- Interface with site leadership, safety teams, and regulators to manage reporting, escalation, risk registers, and interpretation of decarb-specific legislation
- Contribute to and monitor Leading Safety Index (LSI) initiatives, identifying safety performance drivers and implementing improvements
- Coach and upskill operational teams on new hazards, exposures, and residual risks associated with decarbonisation technologies
- Support operational readiness by participating in risk workshops and delivering health and safety readiness activities for safe deployment into operations
- Drive continuous improvement by embedding lessons learned, strengthening safety systems, and ensuring effective risk management across Decarb programs.
Qualifications and Experience
- Relevant safety or engineering qualifications (cert IV, Bachelors, Masters etc)
- Battery related courses or exposure highly desirable
- Test and Validation exposure highly desirable
- 3+ years Resources/Mining/Construction exposure
- Risk assessment facilitation and active participation exposure required
- Extensive knowledge of mining activities, lifecycles and operations and maintenance risks
- CGR and BMS/Enablon systems exposure
- Risk management knowledge and experience
- Previous experience with Risk assessment facilitation
- HAZID facilitation would be highly desirable.
