Geotechnical Technician

About the Role

As a Geotechnical Technician, you will support the site geotechnical team through a balance of field and office based work. This is an excellent entry level opportunity for someone looking to build a long term career in geotechnical engineering, with structured training and mentoring provided on site.

You will assist Geotechnical Engineers with inspections, monitoring and data collection, while maintaining all instrumentation support the safe and compliant performance of the underground excavations.

Key responsibilities include:

• Conducting field inspections underground.
• Monitoring and recording geotechnical instrumentation data
• Maintaining data in databases (Deswik)
• Supporting instrumentation installations
• Maintaining geotechnical equipment
• Providing general technical and administrative support to the team
• Upholding strong safety standards aligned to Evolution Mining values

This role offers hands on experience, variety, and a clear pathway into further study or a future geotechnical engineering career opportunity.

About You

You’re a practical, safety focused and self motivated person who enjoys hands on work and problem solving. You may be early in your career or come from a trade/ technical (IT) or field‑based background.

We’re looking for someone who:

• Is reliable, proactive and keen to develop new skills
• Can work independently and as part of a small, supportive team
• Is comfortable working in the field and in the office
• Demonstrates a strong commitment to safety and procedures
• Communicates effectively with a range of stakeholders

You will also bring:

• A current manual driver’s licence (essential)
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite
• An interest or aptitude for technical troubleshooting
• Deswik experience is desirable but not required
• Mining experience is advantageous but not essential

This role will suit someone seeking a long term career pathway, with opportunities for further study or progression into a cadetship.
