FIFO | 8/6 Roster | Long Term Opportunity

Our client is seeking an experienced Geotechnical Engineer to join a high-performing Tailings team on an 8/6 FIFO roster. This site-based role is responsible for providing geotechnical support across tailings storage facilities, ensuring monitoring systems, inspections and compliance activities are completed to the highest industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor the performance and condition of Tailings Storage Facilities (TSFs) by collating and analysing data from inspections, seismic monitoring, InSAR, radar, survey prisms, drone surveys, piezometers and deposition monitoring.
  • Collect, validate and manage geotechnical monitoring data to ensure accuracy, reliability and timely reporting.
  • Coordinate the installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of geotechnical monitoring systems with site teams.
  • Conduct inspections and prepare reports relating to failures, TARP trigger events and daily monitoring activities.
  • Ensure Tailings Management Plans, Operations, Maintenance and Surveillance (OMS) manuals and procedures are implemented and maintained.
  • Support the training and development of Operational Technicians, Geotechnical Monitoring Technicians and Emergency Response personnel.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams including Tailings Technical Services, Hydrology, Database, Resource Estimation, GIS and Mine Operations.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering Geology, Mining Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or Civil Engineering.
  • A minimum of 6 years' geotechnical engineering experience within the mining industry.
  • Strong experience in geotechnical analysis and interpretation.
  • Experience logging soil and rock conditions in accordance with Australian Standards.
  • Knowledge of tailings engineering, geotechnical monitoring and groundwater monitoring.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office and mining/geotechnical software including Vulcan, Swedge, Dips, Slide and Rockfall (or similar).
  • A current Western Australian Driver's Licence.
