About the role

We are looking for a Geophysicist to join our team in Perth. This technical role is responsible for ensuring downhole geophysical logging, geophysical surveys and associated activities are planned and executed safely, with high-quality results delivered in a timely manner.

This is a great opportunity for a values-driven Geophysicist to actively engage with department-wide stakeholders to deliver Orebody and Water Knowledge to the division. This role is a Perth based role with ad-hoc travel to site.

Reporting to the Superintendent Geophysicist and working in a diverse team, within our Geoscience team, you will be:

  • Delivering high quality and fit for purpose petrophysical data for integration into the geological estimation process

  • Ensuring robust planning and the safe execution of high quality and fit for purpose geophysical programs to enhance Geoscientific, Environmental, Hydrogeological

About the role

  • Delivering high quality and fit for purpose petrophysical data for integration into the geological estimation process
  • Ensuring robust planning and the safe execution of high quality and fit for purpose geophysical programs to enhance Geoscientific, Environmental, Hydrogeological and Geotechnical decision making.
  • Reviewing and validating geophysical and petrophysical deliverables to ensure data quality, completeness and interpretability
  • Working closely with operational and Geoscience teams to identify and mitigate data quality risks related to hole condition and survey execution.
  • Delivering high quality interpretation and insights from geophysical programs to Geoscientific, Environmental and Hydrogeological teams
  • Supporting and pursuing innovative process improvements for data collection and processing to ensure optimum delivery of geophysical data and insights

About you

Ideally, you will have:

  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • Tertiary qualifications in Geophysics, Geoscience or Geo-data Science – a practical Honours or above in a relevant project is advantageous, but not a requirement.
  • Excellent engagement skills and ability to build relationships in a collaborative inclusive environment with numerous diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of geoscientific software (preferably ArcGIS, Oasis Montaj, Leapfrog, and acQuire).
  • An understanding of the fundamentals of petrophysical (i.e. density and magnetic susceptibility) and geophysical (i.e. magnetics, gravity, and electromagnetics) data collection, processing, and interpretation practices.
  • Programming and data science skills with an ability to read/write Python are highly regarded.
  • A ‘C’ class manual driver’s licence is essential.
