Geology Technician
MPI Recruitment
Job Description
If you're a geology field technician who wants to be involved in the early stages of drilling programs, supporting drill site preparation and earthworks activities in a hands-on field environment, then this role is for you.
You will help coordinate contractor-led earthworks and ensure drill sites are safely prepared and ready for drilling. The role focuses on field-based activities rather than core processing, with plenty of time spent outdoors working alongside contractors, geologists, and drilling personnel.
Key responsibilities includes:
- Assisting with drill site set‑out and preparation activities
- Supporting contractor‑led surface works ahead of drilling
- Working from planned layouts to prepare drill pads and sumps
- Observing daily progress and identifying issues that may affect readiness or safety
- Communicating regularly with geology and field teams to keep work moving in sequence
- Maintaining safe, orderly work areas during earthworks activities.
To be successful, you'll have:
- Previous experience in drill site preparation, earthworks coordination, and field-based geology support roles
- Experience working around active drilling programs and contractor-managed earthworks
- The ability to work independently and communicate effectively with geology, drilling, and operational teams
- Exposure to resource development or exploration environments
- A valid Manual C-class driver's licence
- A current Forklift licence
- A national police clearance issued within the last six months
- The ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol screen.
If you are planning your next FIFO role and want hands‑on involvement in drill site preparation on a structured drilling program, apply now or get in touch for a confidential discussion.
Unfortunately, MPI Recruitment can only consider applicants with relevant qualifications and experience who are Australian Permanent Residents or hold valid working rights for Australia.
