 Reporting to the Geology Manager - Surface, the Geology Superintendent - Resources will ensure delivery of robust and JORC compliant resource estimations that are aligned with geological understanding.

Here’s what awaits you:

  • Through skills development and experience, inspire and support your team of senior and project resource geologists to deliver robust resource estimations
  • Active involvement in succession planning of your team, their development and talent management
  • Assist with training, mentoring and development of geologists.
  • Improve and standardise resource estimation systems and processes to facilitate best practice and delivery of robust resource estimations.
  • Make sure that all geological models and geological understanding is integrated into resource estimate and communicated effectively to stakeholders. If a geological model is not available, ensure ongoing development of geological models and understanding at mine, Local and regional scales.
  • Review the QAQC of all relevant geological input data ensuring it is fit for resource estimation.
  • Ensure resource model documentation is done to a high standard and is communicated to stakeholders.
  • Undertake and schedule resource peer reviews for major resource updates.
  • Undertake resource evaluations, technical audits, and reviews.
  • Ensure resource estimates are reconciled with grade control estimates, and variance explained with knowledge fed back for continuous improvement for both estimates.
  • Be involved with Mineral Resource and Ore Reserve growth planning, providing input into critical assumptions and forecasts that inform drill planning and budgets.
  • Review the EOM mining and mill reconciliations and the impact of the results on the resource estimate, with the intention to find effective solutions if reconciliation is consistently under or over performing.
  • Evaluate and communicate the risk profile of each resource and seek to find effective solutions to mitigate the risk.
  • Provide input and direction where required into the prioritisation and advancement of key LOM projects.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree majoring in Geology from a recognised tertiary institution. Unencumbered ‘C’ Class WA licence, St Johns Senior First Aid certificate (desirable).

**Experience:**Minimum 10 years relevant experience in the mining industry. Demonstrated ability to lead a large team. Computer literacy – Microsoft Office, Acquire, Datamine/Vulcan, Leapfrog. Good communication skills. Good grasp of geostatistical concepts and resource estimation. Demonstrate ability to maintain or exceed best industry practice in all geological tasks. Flexibility to adapt to improved procedures and practices. Awareness of the Mine Safety and Inspection Act & Regulations.
