Company Description:In Australia, we operate five steelmaking coal mines in Queensland’s Bowen Basin, and have additional joint venture interests in manganese, as well as copper exploration projects under way in North West Queensland. Steelmaking coal is an essential ingredient in blast-furnace steel manufacture, producing steel used for critical building and infrastructure around the world.   Job Description:Capcoal Mine is seeking an experienced Geologist, Engineering Geologist, or Geotechnical Engineer to join our Technical Services team on a permanent basis. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside a team of passionate, industry-leading professionals and play a key role in maximising resource value while advancing your career. Reporting to the Geotechnical Superintendent, this position provides short- to medium-term geotechnical and geological support across the operations. You will contribute directly to optimising production areas by identifying geological risks and ensuring safe, efficient planning and execution. Key roles would include the followingMonitoring and data collection including the use of slope stability radar (SSR)Identify and manage geological and geotechnical hazards impacting mining operationsConduct mapping, logging, and data validation to ensure data quality and reliabilityDevelop fit-for-purpose short-term geological and geotechnical modelsSupport mine planning, drill and blast design, and daily operational decision-making.Assist Coal mining activity as required.Assist in minimising coal loss and contaminationPerform reconciliation analysis to drive continuous improvement in performanceCollaborate closely with geologists, engineers, and operations teams Qualifications:Tertiary qualifications in Geological Sciences, civil engineering, or mining engineering is highly regarded.At least three years experience in operational mining, preferably open cut coal mining.Experience with Slope Stability Radar (SSR) and monitoring will be highly regarded.Demonstrated experience contributing to a team of professionals to deliver against set targets.In depth knowledge of Geotechnical hazards, as well as the relevant mitigation strategies.Strong analysis, problem solving and attention to detail.Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
