About the Role
General Manager - Industrial & Resources East
At UGL, we deliver critical assets and essential services that keep Australia moving. Working alongside some of the nation's largest resources, energy and industrial organisations, we create solutions that drive performance, reliability and growth.
We are now seeking an accomplished General Manager - Industrial & Resources East (IRE) to lead one of UGL's most significant Services Division portfolios. Based in Brisbane, Melbourne or Sydney and reporting directly to the Executive General Manager Services, this executive leadership role offers full accountability for operational performance, strategic growth and commercial outcomes across a national portfolio of maintenance, shutdown, operations and minor capital works contracts.
About the Opportunity
This is a rare opportunity to lead a portfolio generating approximately $250M-$300M in annual revenue, with significant growth potential. You will oversee a diverse portfolio of major industrial and resources contracts across Australia, partnering with leading clients across mining, energy, power generation, manufacturing and industrial sectors.
As a key member of the Services leadership team, you will shape the future direction of the business by driving operational excellence, strengthening client partnerships and delivering sustainable growth.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Lead a strong safety culture with an unwavering commitment to Safety
- Deliver and exceed revenue, margin and profitability objectives
- Develop and execute strategic growth initiatives aligned to the division's five-year plan
- Retain and expand existing client contracts while identifying new market opportunities
- Provide leadership across maintenance, shutdown, operations and minor capital project activities
- Build, coach and lead a high-performing team of operational and functional leaders
- Drive continuous improvement, productivity and innovation initiatives
- Maintain strong governance, risk management and compliance standards
- Foster trusted relationships with clients, industry stakeholders and executive leaders
- Contribute to divisional strategy and broader organisational objectives.
About You
You are an experienced executive leader with a proven track record of successfully leading large-scale operational businesses within mining, resources, energy, industrial services or engineering environments.
You will bring:
- Significant experience leading complex operational portfolios across multiple contracts or sites
- Full P&L ownership and accountability for substantial business operations
- Demonstrated success in growing revenue and securing major contract opportunities
- Strong commercial acumen, financial management and contractual expertise
- Experience leading senior operational teams in highly regulated and industrial environments
- A strategic mindset coupled with strong operational execution capability
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement, influencing and negotiation skills
- Strong industrial relations awareness and experience working within unionised environments
- A tertiary qualification in Engineering, Business, Commerce or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
- Experience within maintenance, shutdowns, operations and brownfield project delivery environments will be highly regarded, as will established relationships across Queensland and East Coast resources and energy markets.
