Job Description

Downer Rail & Transit Systems is seeking a motivated Fleet Operations Support Officer (FOSO) to join our team based in Auburn, NSW. This is an exciting opportunity to support some of Sydney's most iconic rail fleets while working alongside a highly skilled and collaborative team committed to safety, reliability and operational excellence.

In this critical role, you will act as the key technical liaison between Sydney Trains, train crew, service delivery teams and Downer's Integrated Operations Centre (IOC). You will provide first-line technical support, fault identification, incident reporting and fleet performance monitoring to help maximise operational availability and reliability across the network.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support and fault-finding assistance for rollingstock operating within the Sydney Trains network.
  • Liaise with Sydney Trains operational teams, train crew, Yard Masters and service delivery personnel.
  • Coordinate with internal engineering and technical specialists to identify, mitigate and report fleet faults and incidents.
  • Support the Integrated Operations Centre by providing timely and accurate fleet performance information.
  • Contribute to strategies that improve fleet reliability, availability and operational outcomes.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to meet business and customer requirements.
  • Ensure engineering, quality and reliability processes are followed and continuously improved.

About You

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical circuit diagrams and mechanical drawings.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working in fast-paced operational or technical environments.
  • Experience in conflict resolution and stakeholder management.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance and continuous improvement processes.
  • Understanding of engineering change and reliability improvement methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly organised with the ability to work effectively under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • Rollingstock subsystem operational knowledge is highly regarded.
  • A team player who demonstrates integrity, collaboration and accountability.
